There have been questions about a new Netflix miniseries called "13 Reasons Why," a show based on a book with the same title, by Jay Asher. It is a fictional account of a teenage character who dies by suicide. Please see the informational letter created by the Wake County Student Services Department to inform and alert you to concerns that points parents to helpful information to encourage a healthy discussion about the series.

Girl Talk addresses the timely topic of adolescent growth and development and the physical, social and emotional changes that girls experience during puberty. 3-D theater exhibits, hands-on activities, movies and candid discussions help moms and their daughters explore a range of topics from the workings of the reproductive system to the menstrual cycle to feminine hygiene protection & more. Girl Talk has been specifically designed with activities that foster and encourage open mother-daughter communication.

Guy Talk will equip boys with accurate age-appropriate information developed to help with healthy growth and development. The workshop has been specifically designed with activities that foster and encourage open father-son communication. Join the Poe Health Center on Saturday, March 11 for fun and informative father-son time. |
